MEETING FEB 8 at 7:00 PM

The next meeting for Caper Chairpersons is Tuesday, Feb. 8th at 7 PM in the LMC (school library).

Child care will be available in the teacher’s lounge during the meeting time.  Please let us know if you will be attending and if you will need child care (there won't be someone there unless there's a need).

If you feel you have all your questions answered there is no reason to come to the meeting.  If you are unable to attend and you have questions, please email them to us.

We will review Booth Chair responsibilities, distribute maps of the gyms, check out supplies, etc.
We look forward to hearing from you –
Dina and Danielle

Idea: fold top of banner over wire and use staples or clothespins to attach the banner to wire.   Note: banners can go on back wall, front of table, and/or wire above. Rule: NO CLEAR TAPE ON THE FLOOR. If you need tape on the floor and are unsure, please check with the custodian.

BOOTH DIFFICULTY: Easy to manage

RULES: One ticket buys 3 shots;  all 3 in the hoop wins a first prize, 2  in the hoop gets a second prize, and 0 or 1 in the hoop gets a third prize. Children in kindergarten and younger get to use the kiddie hoop that has been generously provided by D Trask for several years now.

COMMENTS: The only things you need to remember are to contact the phy ed teachers ahead of time to let them know that you will need balls (2-3 large and 2-3 small ones) and a net (to hang as a wall between the basketball and skeeball booths) left out for you on Friday evening.

DECOR: The students decide on the booth theme and make the decorations, banner with game rules, and poster advertisements for the booth. This usually takes just two Friday afternoons to accomplish. Also, be sure the students have decorated a ticket box and three prize boxes for the booth.

BOWLING Booth

GAME: Bowling
TEACHER: Thomas

RULES: 2 tickets for 2 rolls.  1st (strike), 2nd (9 or spare), and 3rd prizes (less than 9) for knocking down pins.  Smaller kids had a closer line.

SUPPLIES:  Bowling balls, pins, gym mats, divided, bowling lanes, 3 tables, ticket box, 3 prize boxes.
The blue floor mats (see photo) are a backstop and sidestop for the balls.  The lane divider allows you to set up 2 lanes.

IMPORTANT: The gym teachers put in a request with the district for the equipment.  Touch base in January just to confirm.  Let the caper chair know you want 3 tables.

DECOR: Mural for wall, Banner to span posts, Table skirt.

DIMENSIONS: 24' long, 10' deep booth.

CLASS TIME:  The class likes to be very involved in the decor.  You can do everything in one afternoon (week of the caper)  if it is planned out and scheduled in advance.  If you can make a pre-visit to discuss with them what theme and decor they want, they like it.  In most years the class has a suggestion box for kids to suggest the booth name, then they vote to choose which they like best.  You can give students supplies for making advertising posters, get them started, and let them finish in free time.

STAFFING: 1 hour shifts with 2 Adults and 2 children at each shift.  Ask the last shift to help clean. Ask the clean-up person to save the decor (if it is precious to the students).  ** Note: If a volunteer offers "put me wherever you need me", schedule them for the last shift plus clean-up.  Late shifts are harder to fill.**  It is good to start filling the staffing positions the first week of FEBRUARY.  Be sure to get someone assigned to help set up on Friday evening.

NOTES:  The pins are easy to knock over, so make the requirements for getting "1st prize" strict.  Having a co-chair help with this booth makes the work load lighter!

2010: Strolling, Bowling, Rolling through the woods.
